32-64 GB is the sweet spot: big enough for a full working library, small enough that FAT32 formats without drama.

The backup that lives in your pocket
Buy two of whichever main drive you pick. Identical drives, identical exports. That's the whole trick, redundancy beats recovery every time.
Worth adding
- A small hard case or keyring capsule, crushed and wet drives are the classic lab jobs.
- A USB-C ↔ USB-A adapter, the booth laptop never has the port you need.
