Power-cycle it properly
Only restart a player that is not carrying the room. If it is still playing, go back and hand the room to another deck first.
- Is another deck reading this player's drive? Another deck can be reading this player's drive over LINK, so it goes quiet the moment you unplug, and a frozen, silent player can still be that source. Move that deck onto its own drive before you touch this one.
- Press USB STOP and wait for the USB light to go out.
- Light out? Take the drive out first, then power off. A player with nothing plugged into it cannot cost you a drive.
- Light still blinking? The unit is still writing. If you can play from another deck without this drive, leave this player alone and deal with it after the gig. Pull the drive and power off anyway only if there is no other way to save the gig: AlphaTheta's warning is that the unit's management data may be deleted and the drive may become unreadable.
- Power off, wait about twenty seconds, power on and let it boot fully before touching anything.
- Reinsert the drive and give it thirty seconds. Big libraries mount slowly. If the player froze while browsing, test the drive in another deck first: a corrupt database can freeze it again.
