One thing left before survival mode
- Is this your own drive? If you borrowed it, do not format it. Go back, make a folder on it and copy into that, or ask for a different stick.
- Is this gig's set on that drive and nowhere else? Copy it to the computer first. The next step wipes the drive, and a drive that reads with nothing on it does not save the gig.
- Confirm the disk name and size before you format. You may have two drives plugged into this computer by now, and they sit next to each other in the same list. Formatting the wrong one is unrecoverable.
- Re-do the format once, choosing FAT32 explicitly (not exFAT) and MBR. A Mac GUID Partition Map drive is a documented cause of a player not reading a drive at all.
- Copy the tracks back onto it and load them on the player.
