Ecler
Ecler is a Barcelona audio manufacturer founded in 1965. Its HAK and NUO mixers earned it a worldwide name in DJ booths through the 1990s and 2000s, before the company turned to installed sound, which is most of its business today. The DJ line returned in 2022 with the WARM series: all-analogue rotary mixers made for building a set out of several sources rather than cutting between two tracks.
Where these mixers come from
Both mixers are designed and manufactured by Ecler in Barcelona, and Ecler state that all circuits are strictly designed, mounted and tested at their Barcelona facilities.
The WARM2 manual dates the return itself: after 13 years hiatus, Ecler release a new top notch mixer. So this is a long-established manufacturer with a short current DJ catalogue, which is an unusual combination and worth knowing before judging the brand by its model count.
Ecler’s main business is commercial install audio, and the DJ line runs on its own site. That is why searching the main Ecler catalogue for a WARM mixer turns up ceiling speakers and zone amplifiers instead.
If you are looking for Ecler support and cannot find any
Ecler publish no DJ knowledge base and no FAQ for the WARM series. Their help centre carries around thirty product categories and every one of them is a commercial install product: no mixer, no rotary, no DJ category at all.
Neither the WARM2 nor the WARM4 manual contains a troubleshooting section. Between them the published guidance for a mixer that has stopped working is a fuse rating and a cleaning instruction.
The routes Ecler do publish are a technical request form, an email address and a phone line, all of them aimed at the install catalogue.
Where the documents differ
Where this site records a difference between two Ecler documents, it is recording a documentation slip and nothing more. A manual and a data sheet are written and revised at different times by different people, and a figure drifting between them is the ordinary result. It does not suggest a manufacturer trying to mislead anyone, and this site does not read it that way.
On the WARM2, Ecler’s user manual and its data sheet print different tone control ranges for the same controls, in five places, and the data sheet disagrees with itself on the isolator. The Spanish edition of the manual matches the English manual on every one of those five points, so the data sheet is the document out of step. This site prints both readings and picks neither, because two agreeing documents are stronger evidence than one and still not a measurement of the hardware.
At least three revisions of the WARM2 manual are in circulation, so two owners can be reading different numbers from documents that carry the same name. In order of age they are the edition stamped v.20211222, then 50-0421-0100, then 50-0421-0102.
What neither mixer has
Neither mixer has a crossfader. It is not fitted, not optional and not removable, and neither manual documents one anywhere.
Neither manual describes a split cue. On both mixers, monitoring is a blend between the selected PFL and the main mix on one SOURCE control.
Neither mixer has any digital audio in it. No USB, no converters, no DSP and no firmware, so there is no version to be behind on and no driver to install.
The two settings that look like faults
Both mixers ship with phantom power ENABLED on the microphone input, disabled only by an internal jumper, and both set their house and booth output level with an internal DIP switch that defaults to the lower of its two positions. Both are documented only in a configuration diagram at the back of the manual, and both look like faults from the front panel.
On both mixers the effects loop is on RCA rather than 6.3 mm jack, so an effects unit with jack connections needs adapters. That is a booth problem rather than a specification, and it is the same on the WARM2 and the WARM4.
