SERATO DROPS OUT
AFTER WIFI IS TOGGLED

Serato list this as a known issue in their own words: "An audio dropout, followed by large latency" when WiFi is switched from off to on while Serato DJ hardware is connected and playing. They limit it to DVS hardware on macOS, and they say "we believe the issue is not specific to Serato DJ Pro" because it has "been reproduced using other audio software".

Read the scope carefully. It is a macOS problem with DVS hardware, and Serato say it reproduces in other audio software, which puts the fault in the operating system's audio path rather than in Serato. That matters because it means a Serato update is not what fixes it, and neither is reinstalling anything.

There is no fix once it has happened, only a reset: "The only work-around (once the issue has been experienced), is to reconnect the hardware." Their prevention rule is the useful part: "We strongly recommend you either disable WiFi before launching Serato DJ Pro, or refrain from toggling WiFi off then on again, if you are using a network connection." And one thing that does not help: "Resetting the audio buffer under SETUP --> AUDIO, will not resolve the issue."

So the order at the decks is: do not touch the buffer, it will not help. Unplug the hardware, plug it back in, let Serato pick it up again. That is the whole repair, and it is the only one.

Turn WiFi off before you open Serato, and leave it off for the set. If you need a network connection for the gig, decide that before launch and do not toggle it afterwards. Serato's own recommendation is exactly this, and it costs nothing.

Why this belongs on a checklist and not in a repair guide. The trigger is a thing a DJ does by reflex: a phone hotspot, a venue password, a quick look at a message. None of those feels like touching the audio. On this setup, it is. Make the decision once, before the first track, and the problem does not exist.

If the WiFi did nothing and the sound still glitches, clicks or drops, that is a different fault with a different procedure: the USB path, the processor, or a hidden power setting on Windows. Serato's full dropout procedure for Mac and Windows is on its own page.
