STREAMING TRACKS
DO NOT GO ON THE USB

rekordbox answer the export question in one sentence, under "Are there any functional restrictions when using tracks from a streaming service on rekordbox ver. 6?": streaming tracks "Cannot be exported to a USB storage device or SD memory card." That is every service, with no exception for a paid tier.

Why it is not a bug and will not be patched. A streamed track is licensed to play inside the application that streams it. A file on a USB drive plays anywhere, on any player, for anyone who holds the drive, and no streaming licence covers that. The restriction is the licence, not the software.

The EXPORT mode question is answered separately: "Beatport Streaming" is the only streaming service available in EXPORT mode, the others cannot be used there at all, and even for Beatport "playback is not possible with LINK EXPORT". So a Beatport track can sit in your EXPORT mode library for organising, and it still cannot go onto the drive or play through a linked player.

This is the loophole people reach for, and it is not one. EXPORT mode is where you organise a library and prepare drives. Being able to see Beatport tracks there means you can put them in playlists beside your own files. It does not mean those tracks leave the laptop. When the export runs, the owned files go onto the drive and the streamed ones do not.

The same answer closes another door: "The recording function cannot be used. This is due to copyright restrictions set by the streaming services."

So a set that uses streamed tracks cannot be recorded from inside rekordbox either. If you want a recording, the recorder has to sit outside the software, on the mixer or on a separate device.

Decide before you prepare, not after. If the gig is on club players from a USB drive, the streaming service is a tool for finding music and nothing more. Every track that goes on the drive is a file you own, analysed in rekordbox, exported in EXPORT mode, and tested on a player before the gig. The drive itself is prepared the usual way.

If the gig is on your own laptop in PERFORMANCE mode, streaming can be part of the set, and then the question becomes whether the venue has internet, which is its own page.

Streaming playlists can still be useful on the road as a way to keep track of what you mean to buy. That is a shopping list, and a shopping list is not a set.

Nothing on this page fixes that in the booth. The tracks were never on the drive, and there is no setting on the player or in rekordbox that puts them there.

Play what you own. Any file already on the drive plays. If the laptop is with you and the venue has signal, PERFORMANCE mode can stream, with the laptop as the deck. If neither is true, the set is the owned files, and the lesson is the section above.
