CDJ ERROR E-8302:
WHAT IT MEANS, HOW TO FIX IT

• The track file itself is damaged or cannot be decoded. This is the cause AlphaTheta publishes for E-8302, and it leads the list because they lead with it: the track data may be corrupted. It is also why the code usually names one track instead of killing the whole drive.
• A corrupt rekordbox export, usually from pulling the USB without ejecting, or an interrupted sync.
• Wrong file system. NTFS is never supported, by the player or by rekordbox itself. A drive left on a GPT partition map is the other common culprit. FAT32 with an MBR scheme is the combination that works in every booth (newer CDJ-3000 firmware also reads exFAT, but FAT32 never surprises you).
• A failing drive, bad sectors right where the database lives.
• Old player firmware meeting a new rekordbox export format.

Reseating the drive and trying the other slot and the other player are assumed done. Eject with USB STOP, never a pull.

• Test that one track somewhere else first. This is AlphaTheta's own action for E-8302: check whether the track plays on another player that supports the same formats, and if it does, re-import that music file to the drive you are playing from. If only that track fails, you have found it and the rest of your set is intact.
• If another player reads it, play from that deck via PRO DJ LINK.
• With a laptop: open the USB in rekordbox. If it reads the drive, do a fresh export of this gig's playlist. If it doesn't, get the files off first, then reformat FAT32/MBR and re-export this gig's tracks. Never format a drive that still holds your only copy of anything.
• No laptop and no player reads it: the database is gone for this gig, switch to the emergency flow below for the workaround route.

Some players print a number after the code: E-8302: CANNOT PLAY TRACK (3620), and also (3658), (000D), (B194), (C611), (300a) and (B000). There are threads for most of them, which makes it easy to read seven different faults into one error.

A different number is not a different error. AlphaTheta documents E-8302 once per player, with a single cause and a single action, and publishes nothing at all about the value in brackets. It is an internal diagnostic detail.

So we will not tell you what yours means. Nobody can, because the manufacturer has not said, and guessing about the drive you are about to trust with a gig is how people lose sets. The steps above are the steps, whichever number you see.

• Full-format the drive (not quick) as FAT32 + MBR. If the full format fails or crawls, retire the drive.
• Re-export your library fresh from rekordbox in Export mode. Never copy an old database back onto a clean drive.
• Update player firmware and rekordbox.
• Carry two identical drives with identical exports. E-8302 on one drive is an inconvenience; on your only drive it's a disaster.
