WHICH PLAYER READS WHICH?

OneLibrary players, 6 of them: CDJ-3000X, CDJ-1500X, XDJ-AZ, XDJ-AN, OPUS-QUAD, OMNIS-DUO.

Device Library players, everything else on this site: CDJ-3000, CDJ-2000NXS2, CDJ-2000 / NXS, CDJ-900NXS, CDJ-900 / 850, XDJ-RX3, XDJ-XZ, XDJ-1000MK2, XDJ-RX2, XDJ-RX, XDJ-RR, XDJ-700.

OneLibrary arrived in rekordbox 6.6.11 in March 2023, first for the OPUS-QUAD. Device Library is what everything before it reads. The full table, with the file systems each player accepts, is on the rekordbox reference.

The split does not follow the age of the gear the way you would expect, and one pair of decks catches more people than everything else put together.

The CDJ-3000 is a Device Library player. The CDJ-3000X is a OneLibrary player. Two decks with nearly the same name, often in the same booth, reading different formats. A drive that browses perfectly on one can show nothing on the other.

Firmware 3.30 added OneLibrary to the CDJ-3000 and was then withdrawn, so the CDJ-3000 is a Device Library player today. AlphaTheta answered the obvious worry inside the change history of the release that followed: AlphaTheta answer the obvious question inside the change history for 3.22 itself. Their note on that release says the update does not include OneLibrary support, that loading libraries in Device Library format still works fine, and that you should feel free to update the firmware. So the version that follows the withdrawal is not a second attempt at it.

The other pair worth knowing: the XDJ-XZ reads the original Device Library, not OneLibrary, even though it is newer than several players that read both.

Do not try to remember which deck reads which. Make the drive carry both.

• Run rekordbox 7.2.13 or later.
• In EXPORT mode, right-click OneLibrary on the device and choose Convert from Device Library. That is the step AlphaTheta's OneLibrary Compatible USB Device Export guide requires.
• Re-export after that, and every export writes both formats onto the same drive.

AlphaTheta state the reassuring half of this plainly too: connecting a drive to a player never deletes the music files or the playlists on it.

If the drive mounts and the player shows folders but no playlists, the library format is one of three likely causes and this is the fastest to rule out. The full elimination order is here.

In the booth, with no laptop: the tracks are still there. Browse the drive in folder view and play from the folders. You lose cues, grids and playlists, not the set.
